At nine go down to pick up the Argentinian friend, the friendly Argentinian. The journey will take us to a tiny town called Titling near Passau. This is to visit a friend of his who is suffering from cancer and various other complaints. This may be the last possible visit to see the man, he is ill and is suffering badly.
Drive through the early morning town, it is beautifully peaceful at nine in the morning. All the commuters have commuted and the streets are bare of shoppers, a few old age pensioners wander about the place quite dizzy with sleep and the inabiltiy to sleep.
Wait for the man to leave his flat, and then drive to the motorway. It takes over an hour to reach the Danube, and then across the country roads to the small town.
The man is ill, that is plain to see. He has an oxygen supply system which supplies oxygen from a small container when he is walking. His lungs are in poor condition. It is unfortunate that he can talk about little else other than medical conditions. Take a flippant course answering the problems. It is hard to be serious with such serious matters which are not well understood.
See that he is ill, and not in a position to drive, not really. Take a short drive of thirty kilometres and collect his son in Vilshofen. During the whole journey he talks without stopping.
Return home, and the Argentinian friend falls asleep in the car.
Just before reaching Landshut the oil lamp lights up again. Pour half a litre of the valuable substance into the engine and proceed.
Upon returning see that the cat has vomited on the stairs.
