bells

The Sunday silence of a dormer town whose population is divided between apostasy, unbelief and non christian religeons is almost absolute. Single cars roll by, partly bringing Saturday night revellers home to a long sleep, there is the occasional sound of footsteps outside. A jet aircraft flies by overhead.. But is is silent. The bells will call the believers to empty churches later on, and the churches will not fill well despite this summons. Later on the town will fill with tourists staring at the houses in the narrow streets.

Today will be the day to take a walk up to the shady beer garden. It is only six kilometres away, the walk will hopefully do good. The sun outside, shining out of a clear blue sky makes promises for a hot day. It is rare that the weather is just pleasant, it always seems to vary between being too hot or too cold. Maybe it is just the passage of time making people older that is the problem, older people are less robust with regard to temperature fluctuations.

It is so quiet and warm this morning, that is a delight in itself. The second pot of coffee, probably an unhealthy habit, is made, and todays scribbles come to an end. There are people outside exchanging greetings now, early pedestrians.
