bus and train

Train and bus, train into Dublin from Bray, there are more stations on the route than one would have imagined, all the nicer seaside places of Dublin and then into Pearse street station. Leave the train, take the tunnel under the rails to go to the lavatory, and then out onto the old street.

Walking past Trinity college think of all the times spent there, the early twenties and the lat teens. Walk past the end of Grafton street with its amplified buskers playing their songs for the tourists. It is chilly, the temperature is around zero degrees.

A bus driver explains that the bus will be at the castle, but it is not. The stop is at Westmoreland street.

Wait for the bus, and then there is the long journey through the streets of  the city, rushing past the hundreds of shops and pubs and massage parlours and nail studios. The bus goes over the Portobello bridge and then the residential areas of Rathmines. At the traffic lights in Rathmines village wait, and then off through all the residences to the traffic lights in Rathgar, turn left there and then on to Bushy park road, head for Rathfarnham  and then tiredness sets in.

And the bus goes all over the place, after Ballyboden it follows it's route to Knocklyon and then down the road of the same name to finally make tracks up towards Woodtown, turning off Stocking Lane at Stocking Avenue.

Get off the bus and walk on up to Woodtown Park.

And then the journey is done.
