Ask the young woman serving at Costas Coffee shop in the Vevay road whether a lens cap was handed in last night. There was not they were terribly sorry. The lens cap has been missing, this caused distress. It is not to be found in the bag, It is not in the pockets of the jacket, neither in the trouser pockets. Also it did not fall out into the car seat as a short inspection showed.
Spend the rest of the early afternoon walking up and down the seafront, take pictures of signposts and seagulls, talk to the friend, the man who used to be teacher of photography, an artist.
In the evening take a coffe in the Mermaid Bar in Bray.
There is a pen in the camera bag, reach in to take it out. The hand comes out with a lens cap. This is the missing one.
The day is saved.
