penance for the fourth

Sunday the Fourth of June was a day that started badly, the bad start being then followed by disappointment, and all topped by having to deal with people who's prime purpose in life appears to be depiction of themselves in very rosy terms.

Should there be any cause for greater detail?

The friend who promised to look at the electrical connections in the house yesterday was surprised at the telephone call. Now there are more conditions, more complaints more excuses. Agree to trace the wiring further to the best of available abilities and resources. Agree to make pictures to illustrate that which was invisible due to his having forgotten his reading glasses.

Two hours spent trying to understand a system without being electrocuted, only to find out that the things are simpler than had been expected. Another half an hour goes on typing up a description of the discoveries.

A short visit to the café to try to relax. Confronted with the chatter of people talking about sickness and health and their sad truths about their various relatives, and where they plan to meet. All fortissimo, you would think that it was a consort of the deaf.

Go back home to sleep away the depressions.

That effort having failed too, take a shower and go out to the concert in the pub. It is strange, there is a painter and a musician. The painter is painting, the musician is patronising as is his wont. The musician's family is present, take pictures, this is what had been requested.

At some point charges will have to be made, there is no such thing as a free lunch.
